In recent years, Sinotruk has carried out comprehensive and in-depth reforms, established a modern enterprise system, and gradually emerged from the trough. In 2023, it will once again win the "double first" in China's heavy-duty truck sales and market share. How is this transformation achieved?

 

CCTV reporters saw in the welding workshop of Sinotruk Laiwu Factory that the scene of workers holding welding masks in one hand and welding guns in the other hand no longer exists. The robots in the smart factory have completely replaced manual welding. Pieces of steel plates enter the welding workshop and become the front of the "New Yellow River" heavy-duty truck when they leave.

 

It took only 280 days from the groundbreaking of Sinotruk Laiwu Factory in 2020 to the first heavy-duty truck rolling off the assembly line. One of the key words is high-end. This is one of the world's highest-level heavy-duty truck manufacturing bases and a microcosm of Sinotruk's reform and rebirth.

 

 

This batch of orders on the production line are from overseas orders, and it is served by 110 robots and 109 automatic guided vehicles. It takes about 3-4.5 seconds for a robot to weld a spot, and a head has 3,000 such spots. The entire workshop has 38 processes, and it only takes two and a half hours to complete from a part to a head.

 

The core of all processes is the cab splicing process. Six robots work together, some carry parts, and some weld, and the head is formed in a short time. There is a data worth mentioning, that is, the accuracy of the splicing of key parts is ±1 mm, and the qualified rate has reached 100%, which shows the precision of the robot's work. The length, width and height of the truck head are all about 2 meters, and the splicing error cannot exceed 1 mm, which is about the width of the side of the ID card.

 

After looking at high-end, let's look at intelligence. The large screen behind the reporter is the "smart brain" of the welding workshop. It is connected to the central control system of the welding workshop. In addition to controlling the robot, it is also responsible for order distribution and quality monitoring. It has a very high degree of intelligence and can work continuously for about 20 hours.

 

High-end and intelligent bring about the liberation and development of productivity. Only five workers are needed to manage the two production lines in the welding workshop. In sharp contrast, the photo of the old welding workshop taken four years ago showed that the two production lines required about 400 people. From 400 people to five people, the current number of workers is only 1/80 of that time.

 

After the cab is painted and showered, it will be transported to the assembly workshop and spliced with the chassis. The heavy chassis can be transported by AGV carts. These carts can be said to be the busiest transporters in the workshop. Although they are small in size, they can carry nearly 10 tons and can drive automatically, automatically identify the direction and route, and automatically stop and avoid obstacles when encountering obstacles. It is worth mentioning that these carts can also charge while moving, and complete wireless charging with underground pre-buried cables, which is very flexible.

 

In the cab installation link, the worker first accurately controls the cab installation position through the remote control, and then tightens the connection points. The whole process is smooth and seamless. In the final assembly workshop, there are more than 300 processes. With the tacit cooperation between man and machine, each process can be completed within 5 minutes, which means that a heavy truck can be rolled off the production line every 5 minutes.

 

From the intelligent workshop to the final assembly workshop, the number of workers has increased significantly. There are many cabs of different colors and models on the conveyor belt in the air, indicating that this production line can produce different models at the same time. This kind of "flexible production" with multiple varieties, small batches and higher-end needs more senior technical talents. Just like the team next to the reporter, the average age is only 23 years old, but the skills are superb. Nearly 1/3 of the employees in the team are senior technicians.

 

China National Heavy Duty Truck Group can achieve today's achievements thanks to the deepening reforms in recent years, problem-oriented solution of difficult problems, and focus on the main business. It has successively cut off 98 non-main businesses and completed asset realization of nearly 10.9 billion yuan. At the same time, it has also resolutely cut off the illegal profit chain of procurement, saving 27 billion yuan in procurement costs. In addition, it has also increased investment in research and development, with a total investment of 15 billion yuan in the past five years, which is the sum of the previous 15 years. The establishment of the "three-ability" mechanism of "cadres can be promoted or demoted", "employees can enter or leave", and "income can be high or low" has greatly stimulated the vitality of employees.

 

In recent years, China National Heavy Duty Truck has also begun to make full efforts in overseas markets. In the 5 minutes of the live broadcast, a heavy-duty truck of China National Heavy Duty Truck has been born and rolled off the production line. Soon, it will be shipped to overseas markets. In the first five months of this year, China National Heavy Duty Truck's heavy-duty truck exports exceeded 60,000 units, continuously breaking the monthly export record of my country's heavy-duty truck industry.
